This article is not only for luxury brands like Hermes, Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton… but for all
kinds of branded and unbranded bags. Handbag care is necessary not only for leather bags but most types of material.
Follow these steps to ensure your bag will serve you as long as possible.
Proper storage
Use a breathable dust bag in a large size. Don’t use plastic boxes or sacks.
To keep a nice shape, fill in your bag with a pillow, bubble wrap or clean clothes but always use natural cloth to prevent colour transfer. You can also use paper but not newspaper as they can leave inks stains. Also, wrap the chain to prevent scratches and marks on the leather.
Proper conditions
Prevent from exposure to the Sun and humidity or cold.
Direct sunlight is always a threat. Direct sun causes leather to dry out and crack as the Sun's heat causes the leather's natural oils to evaporate. Also, dye can fade on leather or on fabric especially if they are dark.
Humidity increases the chance of mould and also can cause rusting on metal parts. Extreme cold weather can cause damage to the leather and smells like mould or mildew.
Keep your bag in dark and dry storage places without sunlight.
Clean it

A very simple tip is to use alcohol free baby wipes without certain ingredients or
use professional leather handbag products and kits. Never aggressively rub the leather because you could take off the colour and create scratches on leather. For cowhide, suede or exotic leather cleaning please use a professional handbag cleaning service. Do not hesitate to contact us!
If you have a fresh stain, try to remove it immediately, or go to a bag spa as soon as possible.
The longer you let the stain absorb into the material, the more complicated it will be to remove it.

Moisturise the leather
Leather is like your skin, every day you need to take care of it. If you can clean and hydrate your own skin, then why not your bag’s? Use professional leather cleaner and conditioner. Always read the label first and try the product on an invisible place on the bag. We are not in collaboration with any brands at the moment, but we do plan to in the future. Handbag care tips
Don’t overstuff your bag. It can damage the shape and handles can stretch out or even break. A good solution to keep a nice shape is to use bag organizers.
Don’t put your bag on the floor when you are out and watch the bag’s corners as you walk around. Bright bags are especially sensitive to dirt because every speck of dirt will be visible on the bag.
